Hanorah means honor.
Hanorah is an interior design studio that takes inspiration from design legacies and local contexts.
Hanorah is an interior design practice by Morgan McElwee. A lifelong enthusiast of architecture, art, and design, Morgan carefully restores and reimagines residences and commercial buildings with a trusted team of experts in and beyond the Los Angeles area.
Her love of architecture and art history manifests in a reverence for the principles of modernist architects and designers the she aims to bring into each project and adapt for the needs of homeowners, businesses and builders today.
Informed by history, Hanorah focuses on restoration and building projects for Mid-Century and Craftsman architecture.
Hanorah is also my grandmother’s name.
Glass knobs on creaky doors that never fully closed, handpainted “rugs” covering oil spills on hundred year old wood floors, sea shells strung from door frames, family photos layered under every glass table top in the house, bed quilts that matched the wallpaper that matched the window treatments.
Hanorah’s home on the shore was my introduction to cherishing old houses and creating a sense of place through references to histories — personal, design, environmental.
Let’s work together.
Now accepting projects starting in 2026.
